The Documentation Center Political Islam (DPI) has been present in the media in recent weeks on the topic of Islamism online. DPI Director Lisa Fellhofer spoke about Islamist propaganda in social media as part of an edition of the Ö1 programme Matrix entitled “How teenagers radicalize themselves online”. Among other things, the discussion with ORF editor Daniela Derntl focused on how different extremist movements spread their narratives in the digital space. The DPI Director drew particular attention to the problematic misuse of religion by Islamist movements for power-political purposes.
Mouhanad Khorchide, Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board of the DPI, analyzed current developments in the Islamist milieu in an ORF interview on ZIB 2 following the terrorist attack in Villach on 17 February. These included a new generation of religious extremist influencers.
